Religious Education forms an important part of our curriculum, giving our children the chance to discover and discuss a variety of world religions through our “Love to Celebrate” approach. This approach is progressive throughout school meaning that the children revisit religions and concepts that they already have some prior knowledge of that they can then extend.

The focus of our lessons is on the different celebrations and festivals which form an integral and special part of each religion. This is taught alongside information about the practices, main beliefs and general teachings of each religion to give the children a secure knowledge base. This approach informs and educates our children enabling them to form their own opinions whilst also valuing and accepting the way others choose to live their lives.

We love having visitors in our school and the children always look forward to our monthly “Open the book” assemblies which are a series of well known bible stories presented to us by our friends from Haltwhistle Methodist Church. We also enjoy welcoming members of our community into school to celebrate events such as Harvest Festival, Christmas and Easter - we feel this helps us to bond as a community and shows the children that they are part of something wonderful! We also love to spread the joy around our local area with events such as our annual Carol Singing at Haltwhistle’s Late Night Shopping.
