A copy of our attendance policy can be found in our Policies section here. Attendance REALLY matters! We always follow up when children do not attend school and we monitor attendance patterns closely. Parents may be required to attend meetings with our Parent Support Partner or Headteacher if there are serious concerns about your child’s attendance.
If you would like to request time off during school term time there is a form which should be completed. This can be collected from the school office. It is important that you inform us that you are going on holiday as we have a duty to safeguard all children and we do report children who are missing without reason.
If your request is declined and you still take your child out of school, each parent within your household can be issued with a £60 penalty notice for each child you have taken out of school. If a penalty notice remains unpaid after 21 days, this increases to £120 per child, per parent. If after 28 days it remains unpaid, you may be summoned to appear before Magistrates to explain why your child has unauthorised school absences and you may be liable for a fine of up to £1000.
Taking into account all of the above, we strongly advise you against taking children out of school during term time for family holidays.
