Love to Read
Our children love books and love to read! Our reading curriculum is rich and varied and children experience a wide range of high quality texts both in English lessons and across the curriculum. To further enhance our offer, we invite authors into school to share their books, tell stories and talk about their experiences as an author. Children really enjoy these visits and are inspired and invigorated by them.
Our ‘core’ texts are central to our ‘Love to Read’ programme. They are a collection of carefully chosen stories, which connect our curriculum with wonderful, engaging children’s literature, to inspire, extend understanding and develop a love of reading.
Children develop their understanding of ‘story’ whilst discussing their favourite books and recommending books to one another during our ‘Read a book from home’ sessions in Reception and Key Stage 1.
